A sound healing session is a gentle, immersive experience designed to help your body relax, your nervous system regulate, and your energy come back into balance.

For an individual session, you will begin by sharing any intentions, emotions, or physical concerns you’d like to focus on. The session will begin by you lying down, fully clothed, on a comfortable massage table. You’ll be invited to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and simply receive.
Depending on the session you requested, Karen will use a combination of crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, chimes, voice, and other healing instruments to create a field of vibration around and sometimes on the body. These sounds work to calm the mind, shift energetic blockages, and “retune” your system—similar to tuning a musical instrument that has fallen out of harmony.
Most people enter a deeply meditative or dreamlike state. Some experience emotional release, warmth, visions, or subtle physical sensations; others simply feel very peaceful. All responses are welcome—your body will take in exactly what it needs.
The session closes gently, allowing time to integrate and reflect. Many people report feeling lighter, clearer, and more relaxed afterward.

FAQS
Sound healing is a therapeutic practice that uses specific vibrations—produced by instruments like singing bowls, tuning forks, chimes, and the human voice—to support physical, emotional, and energetic well-being. It works on the principle that the body is like an instrument: when it falls out of tune due to stress or trauma, sound can help gently bring it back into harmony.
You’ll lie down fully clothed in a comfortable, quiet space. After a brief check-in, Karen will guide you into a relaxed state using healing instruments intuitively selected for your needs. You may experience physical sensations, feel emotions, have imagery come to mind, or simply rest in deep stillness. Each session is unique.
No effort is required—just come with an open mind. You’re welcome to set an intention, but mostly, your job is to rest, receive, and allow the sound to move through you. You are always in control of your experience and may ask for adjustments at any time.
No. While sound healing can be therapeutic, it is not a licensed form of psychotherapy or medical care. Karen is a licensed therapist, but sound healing sessions are offered separate from her clinical practice. Sound healing can support emotional healing, but does not replace mental health treatment.
Biofield Tuning is a sound healing technique created by Eileen McKusick that uses tuning forks to detect and shift imbalances in the body’s electromagnetic field (also called the biofield). It’s a gentle, non-invasive method to help release energetic blocks related to stress, trauma, or emotional memory.
Most people report feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, grounded, and sometimes even spiritually uplifted. After a sound healing session, some may feel emotional release or physical detox symptoms (like fatigue or mild headaches) as the body rebalances. It’s best to rest, hydrate, and give yourself space to integrate after your session. Eileen McKusick, founder of Biofield Tuning, recommends the use of an Epsom salt bath after a sound healing session to further help integrate the tuning. Karen will offer specific recommendations to you based on the sound healing experience you have chosen.
Karen offers trauma-informed sessions and integrates sound as a gentle tool for those in recovery or deep healing work. Sound healing helps calm the nervous system, restore a sense of safety, supports emotional release, and builds mind-body awareness within the individual. While sound healing can be a powerful complement to professional trauma counseling, it is not trauma therapy. See full disclaimer.
Wear comfortable clothing you can relax in. Bring a water bottle and a journal if you like to write afterward. Mats, blankets, and props are provided for in-person sessions in Karen’s studio. If you are receiving a session virtually or coming to a group sound bath, surround yourself with anything that helps you feel cozy (e.g., your favorite blanket or eye pillow).
Most people can benefit safely from sound healing. However, if you are pregnant, have a heart condition or pacemaker, have cancer or a terminal illness, have had a head injury or concussion in the past six months, are obese, epileptic, or experience sound sensitivity or seizures, please consult your doctor and let Karen know in advance so the session can be adjusted accordingly.
Yes! While in-person sessions offer a fully immersive experience, remote sessions (via telephone or Zoom) can be deeply effective. All you need is a quiet space, headphones, and an open mind.
